Work has started on a new car park at Kings Dock next to Liverpool Arena to replace one which burned down on New Year’s Eve 2017.
The old car park was destroyed after a car caught fire and sparked a huge blaze which wrecked 1,400 cars parked there at the time.
Liverpool City Council has assigned the reconstruction job to Willmott Dixon construction company, which has just started the clearing works.
A temporary park opened in December and will be kept open until the new build is ready in 2020.
The new park will have nine floors and a capacity of almost 1500 vehicles, the council added.
