The president of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, has visited Liverpool with his wife Sabrina.
They came to learn more about the connection between Ireland and the UK. During the trip they stopped at the World Museum, Central Library and the Liverpool Irish Centre.
The president claimed that Liverpool was “the most Irish of cities” and hailed the extraordinary connection it has with Ireland.
President Higgins and his wife met with Prince Charles and Camilla on Tuesday during their own visit to the city, before continuing their tour yesterday (13th January).
