Derek Hatton suspended by Labour just two days after re-joining

Former Liverpool City councillor Derek Hatton has been suspended from the Labour Party just two after being allowed membership again.

An investigation into a tweet posted back in 2012 by the former deputy leader of Liverpool Council Derek Hatton, has led to his suspension.

The 71-year-old was first expelled from the party for belonging to the far left Trotskyist Militant group.

34 years later he was allowed back, only to find himself in trouble again because of an anti-semitic tweet.

In the tweet, he urged British jews to speak out at the actions taken by the Israeli government. The post has now been deleted.

Mr Hatton’s provisional membership has now been suspended awaiting NEC’S approval.

Liverpool people shared their views on the controversial figure and whether or not he should have been allowed back into the party in the first place.
