Street art brings life to Toxeth

By Jose Ruiz

Walking through Toxteth, it’s not hard to come across derelict houses, and although certain locations look like something out of a war movie, it’s very easy to stumble upon colourful art murals that bring life to the surroundings. The community, deciding to add character to the area has turned a street of abandoned houses into a work of art.

Just a few roads down, the Granby community trust saw an opportunity and transformed two derelict houses into an indoor garden. Located at 37-39 Cairns Street, the trust has already hinted at more houses in the area being refurbished, with the organisation stating they are working on developing ten more community owned assets. Perhaps the Granby Winter Garden is just what Toxteth needed to start its transformation.
